Telling YOUR story through Video

At ChazCasts we understand the power of online video and know how to tell a compelling story in an effective and concise manner. We believe that your video is an investment.  It is an extension of you.  It expresses your brand, your message, even your personality.  So we take it very seriously.

Put Your Video-Story In Reverse!

At ChazCasts we enjoy what we do, and story-telling is our business.  It’s what gets us up in the morning!  A recent ChazCasts video demonstrates just that!!  When ChazCasts interviewed Terry McBride, author of ‘The Hell I Can’t’ we were blown away by the value and insight Terry shared with us.  Mr. McBride illustrated the power of language and personal choice in choosing how he would greet the morning to battle a deadly disease that was affecting his body.  Talk about story-telling… this was powerful stuff!!  But where to start in editing this story when we were finished with the interview?   As the editing process took shape, the conclusion was so powerful that ChazCasts was drawn to choose the ending AS the beginning…that’s right…put the story in reverse!  Start with the conclusion first, then outline the points, that was easy!  Once that was done we found a much more illustrative video emerged and it immediately draws you in.  Ok…enough about my love of this video story, and the subsequent editing…here is my point, when you sit down to a camera (whether being interviewed, or going “solo”) keep a few things in mind:

1.  What Is The Story? (what is the most important or valuable lesson you want to share)

2.  Organize -when taping yourself you may have alot to share…organize your points and make them easy to understand to your audience.  Perhaps break them up and share as separate videos being sensitive to time length of video.

3.  Put It In Reverse -okay, this might be a stretch, but it is all about creativity.  When you are recording yourself, you will at some point become at ease and find that along the way in the taping a strong point emerges, a “story” happens take shape, or a point that really digs at something personal finally surfaces.  Great, when that happens make the video start with that story, or strongest point you are making, and with a few tweeks….the story might just draw more viewers to your website or product and be more interesting to THEM not YOU.

As I write this blog, I feel I want to share more….but for now, just feel inspired by Terry McBride’s video and start asking yourself “what’s my story” and how can I share it on video that creates a stronger bond with my audience?
